Female Hair Loss
Eyes are windows to the soul
It has been said that the eyes are the windows to someone's soul. What is often forgotten is that the "windows" need a frame to really accentuate them.
Many people have very thin eyebrows or no eyebrows at all. Some women may have over plucked their eyebrows leaving them with virtually no hair on their eyebrows. Today’s hair technology can replace eyebrow hair one follicle at a time and produce beautiful results.
We can use special microscopes to harvest fine one hair follicles, taken from the patient’s own head and then transplant them into the eyebrows to produce perfectly natural results.
Eyebrow Transplants
The technology for eyebrow transplants has never been better. Recently a young woman named Mary ( not her real name) came to me because she had very thin eyebrows from over plucking.
This is a very common scenario and one that has an excellent remedy. Also, women often lose the fullness of their eyebrows over time with age. Instead of using makeup or tattooing, there is a permanent solution that can solve these types of problems. Mary wanted to increase the fullness of her eyebrows and fill in the regions of her eyebrow that had no hair at all. Mary’s transplant consisted of four hundred very fine individual hair follicles being inserted into the eyebrow region. Using a microscope, each hair was carefully chosen from the regions of the scalp that have the most delicate and fine hairs. Then small holes are created in the eyebrow region with a custom made blade that is sized to fit the patient’s hair follicles perfectly. These tiny holes are less than 1mm in size. After the holes (the “recipient sites”) are made, the delicate follicles are inserted into the tiny holes one at a time using jeweler’s forceps.
The whole procedure took abut three hours and only local anesthetic was used. Mary took a nap and actually felt refreshed after the procedure! She drove herself home. I called her at home for the next few nights just to check up on her and all went fine. She took pain medications for about a day and used ice packs to prevent swelling. She was back at work three days later and used some make up to cover up the newly transplanted eyebrow follicles. Mary was thrilled at the idea of having fuller eyebrows and she can hardly wait the three months before they start growing in. We’ll see her in follow up then to see how she is doing.
